THE LARGEST EXHIBITION of daily consumer products of the country, China Yiwu International Commodities Fair is approved by the State Council of P. R. China and aimed to serve the whole world with a view to going global. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, and is held form Oct. 22 to Oct.26 annually in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province.
There are 4,000 booths of international standards in a floor space of 90.000 square meters. Various industries, including stationary, sports and outdoor items, toys, knitgoods, footwear and headwear, cosmetics and lavatory articles, hardware, electronic and electric appliances, cases and bags, leather products, ornaments and fittings, arts and crafts, home appliances, web information etc will be displayed in this exhibition. Each year, the visitors of the fair amount to 100,000. Overseas participants surpass 15,000, only next to Canton Fair and East China Fair. 40% of those overseas participants are from developed countries. Foreign trade volume accounts for over 60%. During the Yiwu Fair, activities such as International Market Seminar and Purchase-matching Meeting for Multinational Retailing Groups will be held to provide more valuable information and abundant business opportunities to the visitors. Since 1995, Yiwu Fair has become a green channel for businessmen to grab market shares home and abroad.

THE LARGEST WHOLESALE MARKET in the world, Yiwu Commodities Market is known as the “Ocean of Commodities, and Paradise for Shoppers”. Since its establishment in 1982, Yiwu market has been booming. The market has a total area of 2.6 million square meters with over 100,000 enterprises and 200,000 employees, covering over 400,000 commodities. It is like a magnet attracting businesses around the world. If one spends 3 minutes in each booth, and walk 8 hours a day, it will take a whole year to walk through the market. In 2005, according to the report Astonishing Figures of China issued by the United Nation, the World Bank and Morgan Stanley, Yiwu market is the largest wholesale market in the world.
As high as 55% of the commodities are exported to foreign countries, and over 10,000 overseas businessmen and 750 overseas businesses have been attracted to reside in Yiwu. Every year, commodities are exported to 210 countries and regions with over 4000,000 standard containers. The UNHCR, Carrefour Asia and Ministry of Foreign Affairs have all set up their own purchasing centers in the city.
The trade volume of Yiwu market has ranked the first among all special markets around the country for 15 successive years. It has become the largest circulation and exhibition center of daily consumer goods, and the most important exporting platform in China.
ABOUT YIWU. Located in the center of Zhejiang Province, Yiwu, which is a county-level city, covers a total area of 1,105 km². Among the population of Yiwu, 700,000 are permanent residents, while 1 million are non-native residents. AVIATION. At the Yiwu Airport, there are more than 20 flights connecting Yiwu with Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Qingdao, Xiamen, Shenzhen and other cities.

HIGHWAY. Yiwu is on the Hangzhou –Jinhua-Quzhou and Jinhua-Ningbo expressways. There are over 340 inter-provincial routes for passengers. Yiwu is only one hour drive to Hangzhou, two and a half hours to Shanghai, and one and a half to Ningbo.
